Aren’t We All Just Shimmering Little Dots? Artist Vanessa Su brings light and sensations, originating from the smallest units that make up the world, onto the canvas. Rather than merely reproducing forms or unfolding narratives, her work is an act of recording emotional traces based on her own senses and experiences. The points of light, the layered colors, and the delicate yet blurred brushstrokes in her paintings explore a dreamlike and immaterial world.
She continues her work every day at dawn, between 3 and 4 AM, in the stillness where everyone else is asleep. This time is filled with cold air, a slight emptiness, and a solitude that feels like being left alone. There is a sense of loss, as if something has been misplaced, yet its exact nature remains unknown. To fill this void, the artist empties herself through repetitive actions, searching for light. For her, repetition is not just a process but a meditative practice—a time to empty and refill herself, transforming solitude into light.
